We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

That journey was not easy. I grew up poor, in and out of the projects, trailer parks, or whatever place we could find that would let us live there. I saw a lot of heartache and pain as a child along with things I knew I never wanted to become. I didn’t really have role models but I did have people I knew I didn’t want to be like. So, I worked very hard to break the cycle of addiction and pain. I knew that I would be a statistic if I didn’t break that vicious cycle and I knew it would be a long and hard road. I told myself I would never have to ask anyone for anything and I’ve done just that. I don’t believe you can teach work ethic or motivation but I knew those were traits I needed to have to be successful.

Tucked away on a beautiful rural area in Birmingham, Alabama, Matt Mathews gave me a tour of this stunning location and showed me his morning routine of feeding the wide array of animals he has on the farm.

Aside from the hustle and bustle of taking care of critters on the ranch, Matt owns a boudoir photography business where he helps women feel amazing in their own skin and see themselves through the lens in which others view them. His photography has not only been a successful business, it has also allowed him to touch the lives of others around him.

Although Matt has found success through his creativity, the road for him wasn’t all that easy. I sat down with him as he shared his story of tragedy, triumph, and self-love....

Boudoir Photographer Reveals All In Autobiography

 The photos Matt Mathews shoots may look “provocative”, but the Birmingham based boudoir photographer is sharing there’s more than meets the eye.

“It’s just basically a self-love kind of thing, and being comfortable in your own skin, and being able to look at yourself and be happy with what you see,” says Mathews.
